Fish Creek Summer Tour Series – July and August 2019

This summer discover the natural wonders of Fish Creek Provincial Park. Bring your family and friends and join us as we explore this beautiful valley. Come prepared for the weather and easy walking. Bring sunscreen, water, hat, bug spray, binoculars, walking shoes and a camera if you wish.

By donation (suggested $5 per person, all proceeds go to the Friends of Fish Creek to support education programs in the park).

Flowers and Flyers
Tuesday, July 2, 7:00 pm—9:00 pm
Hull’s Wood (Located off Bow Bottom Trail SE)
Stroll along the “Stream Changes Trail” with Education Coordinator, Roland Kirzinger. We will explore the worlds of flowers and insects and see where they sometimes collide.

The Grasslands of Glenbow
Tuesday, July 9, 9:30 am—12:00 noon
Meet in the main parking area—Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park (Off Highway 2A east of Cochrane)
Join Park Ecologist, Karen Anderson to explore the amazing and beautiful landscapes of Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. Be prepared for a longer walk and be sure to bring water and a hat.

Votier’s Flats (South end of Elbow Dr. SW)
Explore the world of ethnobotany and learn of historic uses of native plants. Learn to identify common trees and shrubs of the park too.

Birding Basics
Tuesday, August 20, 7:00 pm—9:00 pm
Rotary Nature Park (Past Mackenzie Meadows Golf Course)
Join Education Coordinator, Roland Kirzinger for an evening birding tour. Learn the basics of bird identification and a bit about the tools of the trade.
