SUMMARY:Forest Bathing at Hull's Wood
DESCRIPTION:Forest Bathing – Hull’s Wood\, Fish Creek Provincial Park\nInstructed by Karen Salamandick\, Leaning Mind Coaching \nMindfully reconnect with nature through the practice of Shinrin yoku (forest bathing). Learn how becoming aware of your surroundings and the interconnectedness of all aspects leads to an increased level of care and concern for the natural environment.  Shinrin yoku (Japanese phrase meaning forest bathing or immersing oneself in the forest atmosphere) is a slow\, mostly silent\, mindful practice in nature. Participants will be invited to engage their senses as we slowly walk a 1-2 km loop along pathways and dirt trails at Hull’s Wood\, Fish Creek Provincial Park. This experience is open to those aged 16 and older and is not suitable for pets. Appropriate footwear and clothing for the terrain and weather is essential. Please do not bring cell phones (or turn off/set to do not disturb). \nSpace is limited to 6 people\, registration is required (drop in’s will not be permitted). \n$10 per person\, Register through Eventbrite. \n\nKaren is a Mindfulness-based Life Coach\, EFT Practitioner and Forest Bathing Guide with Leaning Mind Coaching. Being born and raised in the Calgary area\, nature has always been an important aspect of her life. She discovered the practice of Forest Bathing through another Friends of Fish Creek program and instantly resonated with it. With Forest Bathing she rediscovered a practice she’d innately done her whole life to find perspective\, peace and grounding. She’s looking forward to sharing this beneficial practice with others through this program. \n

SUMMARY:Wild Yoga - The Fire Within
DESCRIPTION:Wild Yoga Meditation Series\nInstructed by Naomi Parker\, Yoga Instructor with the Friends of Fish Creek for Eight Years \nThis series will be a combination of yoga and yoga nidra meditation held within the windows of a full moon or new moon cycle. We will use a variety of tools each class to deepen the experience and gain a greater connection to nature including sage\, essential oils\, and singing bowls. \nTuesday\, August 18\, 7:00 – 8:30 pm – Igniting the Fire Within \nWe will be working in a new moon cycle. Taking a moment to understand what your heart’s deepest desire is. We will be doing yoga and a yoga nidra mediation. Our yoga practice will be centered about our third chakra (Manipura). This is where we start our own fire within to motivate and pursue our wildest dreams. In order to go after our dreams we need to be confident and empowered to do so. Being in alignment with our third chakra helps us understand our own value and what we really do have to offer our community\, city and even the world. We will review how to do a fire ceremony so we often find ourselves around a fire in the summer months more so than any other month. \nSpace is limited to 20 people\, registration is required (drop in’s will not be permitted). \n$10 per person\, Register on Eventbrite. \nNaomi Parker\, of Elemental Wellness\, is a Certified Fairy Intuitive Healing Practitioner\, Reiki Master\, Registered Yoga Teacher\, Mudra Therapist\, and Spiritual Response Therapist (SRT). She grew up in Northern Alberta where\, surrounded by wilderness\, grew a fondness for the Earth and its elements. She has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and was guided seven years ago to become a certified yoga teacher.  \n  \nPhoto courtesy of Alexander J. Slobodian

SUMMARY:Forest Bathing at Hull's Wood
DESCRIPTION:Forest Bathing – Hull’s Wood\, Fish Creek Provincial Park\nDue to unforeseen circumstances\, the July 22 Forest Bathing class has been cancelled.  \nInstructed by Karen Salamandick\, Leaning Mind Coaching \nMindfully reconnect with nature through the practice of Shinrin yoku (forest bathing). \n

We are all accountable for filling our own cup of happiness. We work through what this means and who else we give a portion of the cup to help fill. We can’t pour from an empty glass. We will solidify our work in this class with understanding what summer activities we have on our bucket list for 2020. We will ensure this summer “bucket list” is filling our cup and leaving us with a sense of excitement and accomplishment\, instead of burnt out and tired. This class will be within a full moon window\, we will work on releasing all the activities that will take away from our cup instead of filling it. You will leave feeling light and full of excitement for the summer months.
