SUMMARY:Wild Yoga - Self Care
DESCRIPTION:Wild Yoga Meditation Series\nInstructed by Naomi Parker\, Yoga Instructor with the Friends of Fish Creek for Eight Years \nThis series will be a combination of yoga and yoga nidra meditation held within the windows of a full moon or new moon cycle. We will use a variety of tools each class to deepen the experience and gain a greater connection to nature including sage\, essential oils\, and singing bowls. \nFriday\, July 3\, 7:00 – 8:30 pm – Self-Care for a Soul-ful Summer (rescheduled from Tuesday\, June 30)\n \nThis class will use yoga and meditation grounded in the fourth chakra – anahata (self care and compassion). We are all accountable for filling our own cup of happiness. We work through what this means and who else we give a portion of the cup to help fill. We can’t pour from an empty glass. We will solidify our work in this class with understanding what summer activities we have on our bucket list for 2020. We will ensure this summer “bucket list” is filling our cup and leaving us with a sense of excitement and accomplishment\, instead of burnt out and tired. This class will be within a full moon window\, we will work on releasing all the activities that will take away from our cup instead of filling it. You will leave feeling light and full of excitement for the summer months. \nSpace is limited to 20 people\, registration is required (drop in’s will not be permitted).  \n$10 per person\, Register on Eventbrite. \nNaomi Parker\, of Elemental Wellness\, is a Certified Fairy Intuitive Healing Practitioner\, Reiki Master\, Registered Yoga Teacher\, Mudra Therapist\, and Spiritual Response Therapist (SRT). She grew up in Northern Alberta where\, surrounded by wilderness\, grew a fondness for the Earth and its elements. She has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and was guided seven years ago to become a certified yoga teacher.  \nPhoto courtesy of Alexander J. Slobodian

SUMMARY:Rock Dams in Fish Creek
DESCRIPTION:Rock Dams – The Effects of Recreational Rock Dams on Water Quality and Stream Measurements in Fish Creek\nThursday\, October 24\, 2019 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm \nFish Creek Environmental Learning Centre Shannon Terrace\, Fish Creek Provincial Park \nPresented by Jenny Atamanik – Master of Science Student at Royal Roads University \nFish Creek Provincial Park has a large number of park visitors and some visitors enjoy constructing rock dams (recreational rock dams) across the creek. The talk will focus on the inventory and categorizing of rock dams in Fish Creek as well as the results of weekly monitoring of water quality and stream measurements upstream and downstream of recreational rock dams.  \nJenny currently works at an environmental consulting company as a Risk Assessment Scientist\, and has worked in a variety of environmental positions including bird studies in the Northwest Territories\, construction monitoring in northern Alberta\, and her work currently focuses on environmental site assessments and human health risk assessments. \nRegistration Is Required. \nFree for Friends Members and $10.00 for Non-Members.\nFree for Youth 16 Years of Age and Younger with Registered Adult. \nRegister through Eventbrite \nRefunds are possible up to 7 days before the event\, but Eventbrite service fee will not be refunded.  \nPhoto courtesy of Jenny Atamanik
