The Friends of Fish Creek and Alberta Parks work together to bring you the Fish Creek Speaker Series!

Through the Fish Creek Speaker Series, professionals from a variety of fields and areas of expertise share their knowledge and experiences with the Fish Creek community. These fascinating and informative presentations take place monthly from September to June, except December.

November Fish Creek Speaker series presentation is free for members and $10 for non-members.

Youth under 16 must be with a registered adult.

Visit our Events Calendar for upcoming Fish Creek Speaker Series events and registration links.

The next Speaker Series event is planned for January 16th from 7:00pm – 8:00pm hosted online via Zoom.

Our Speaker Series on January 16, 2025 will be:

Calgary Connect: Understanding Who’s Using Calgary’s Ecological Network

Calgary Connect, a long-term study in Calgary and the surrounding area, investigates wildlife movement between parks, and into/out of the city. You may have seen one of the project’s remote cameras in Fish Creek PP – these cameras are part of a network of 128 cameras that has helped us learn which species use our parks, how human activity impacts them, and how important it is to protect ecological corridors.

Presented by Nicole Kahal with the Miistakis Institute.

Time: 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Where: Online via Zoom

We are so happy to announce that the Fish Creek Speaker Series is returning to the Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre and in an even more accessible format! Now we are putting technology to work to increase accessibility for audience members who may not be able to attend in-person, and so we can bring in presenters from further afield. Presentations from October to March will take place virtually through Zoom. Online presentations may also be provided if presenters are located in a distant region.
