Capture Nature Photography Contest

The Friends’ Capture Nature Photo Contest was created as a way of inspiring people to engage in the park landscape with creativity in mind! Capture Nature runs from May 1 to July 31 and is a great opportunity for those with a professional background or personal interest in photography to lend their experience to a program that brings a great deal of visibility and a lot of joy to our organization! Capture Nature is also an important fundraiser for the Friends, so your volunteer involvement contributes to the long-term sustainability of the Friends and our overarching education and stewardship activities.

Volunteer Jurors work remotely from their own homes as they take on any number of tasks, from coordinating contest registration, organizing photo submissions and taking part in the final adjudication for the winning prizes! While these may not sound like the most exciting of tasks, they are integral to this program, as is your knowledge and experience of elements that combine to make world-class, winning photos! Click here to read the Capture Nature Volunteer Job Description.

To receive updates on volunteer recruitment in the future, create a MyImpact volunteer account by clicking on the green button below, then check off Capture Nature on your list of Program Interests.

Native Plants Garden Steward

To commemorate our 25th Anniversary, a new native plants garden was established in 2017 around near the entrance of the Friends’ office in the Bow Valley Ranch. Volunteers are instrumental in ensuring the garden is well-tended; tasks include weeding, watering and possibly replanting as plants establish and grow.

Our volunteer positions for this project are currently filled.  We encourage you to consider one of the Friends’ many other volunteer opportunities!

Contact Dylan Barnes, Citizen Science & Stewardship Coordinator, at dylan@friendsoffishcreek.org. or call our office at 403-238-3841, ext. 5, for more information.

  • Poster distribution throughout the community
  • Event photography or videography
