Walking Tour of Fish Creek Provincial Park: Nature and History, Bebo Grove

Thursday, July 31, from 2:00 pm -4:00 pm

Fish Creek Provincial Park has a 10 000 year human history, with links to First Nations groups, the NorthWest Mounted Police, homesteading, trading and ranching.  At 3349 acres, it is one of the largest urban parks in North America, with a mixture of grassland, wetlands, forest and riverine areas, abundant with deer, birds, owls, beaver and even the odd coyote…you never know what you’re going to see!

Join the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society in an educational wander through this beautiful urban park!  Meet in the Bebo Grove parking lot at the South end of 24th Street SW.

Tour guide Wayne Meikle worked for Provincial Parks in Alberta for 35 years until he retired as a Urban Park Planner.  He worked especially in the area of urban park management and has been involved in operations, construction and planning of urban parks.  He is also one of the first founders of the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society.

What to bring: hat, sunscreen, bug spray, water, a camera if you like, and wear good walking shoes!  And make sure you dress for the weather!

$5 per person, register today!
