Presented by Robert Holmberg, Ph.D., Science Outreach – Athabasca, Athabasca University
After the insects, the arachnids are the second most diverse group of animals in the world. Dr. Holmberg will cover the biology, diversity, and importance of the 7 groups of arachnids that occur in Canada. During this presentation, you can learn about the Canadian distribution of black widow spiders, scorpions, and solifugids; mites that live on us and in our homes; harvestmen that overwinter, in the thousands, in caves; and “igloos” built by pseudoscorpions.
