Thank you for Getting to Know Nature with the Friends!
With the support of our volunteers and partners, and thanks to financial support from the Harry and Martha Cohen Foundation, the Friends of Fish Creek are pleased to have been able to offer FREE family-friendly outdoor events throughout 2022!
The 2022 Get to Know Nature event series consisted of nine free events, each centered on a theme:
- Get to Know Winter
- Get to Know Beavers & Owls
- Get to Know Rocks & Fossils
- Get to Know Plants & Pollinators
- Get to Know Healthy Watersheds
- Get to Know Bats & Bears
- Get to Know Birds, Bees & Bats
- Get to Know the Night Sky – and park night life!
- Get to Know the Changing Seasons – Celebrating the opening of the Beaver Tales interpretive trail
Each Get to Know Nature event featured interactive exhibits, small-group guided walks, campfires and fun activities all relating to a theme that took place at a variety of Fish Creek Provincial Park day use areas. These events provided opportunities for members of the public to connect with and learn about nature while being active and having fun outdoors.
Over the course of the nine Get to Know Nature events, hundreds of families took part, each acquiring important knowledge about how to reduce our impact when we visit and recreate in our parks.

Big shout out to the 52 Friends of Fish Creek Volunteers who collectively logged over 800 hours planning and hosting these events alongside 20 partnering organizations (logos below) who offered a wide variety of activities for visitor to enjoy.
